The Retrofit Scheme in Malta is an initiative specifically tailored to address the significant upfront costs often associated with energy-efficient building renovations, making it more feasible for businesses to invest in sustainable solutions. It targets commercial buildings, offering support for actions that significantly reduce their primary energy demand. Eligible interventions include improvements to systems for heating, cooling, ventilation, hot water, and lighting, as well as enhancements to the building envelope—such as insulation, upgraded windows, or reflective roofing—that contribute to lowering overall energy consumption.

The scheme reflects Malta's commitment to fostering a greener economy by enabling businesses to transition to more sustainable energy practices. These upgrades not only help reduce operational costs for businesses but also contribute to the country’s broader objectives of mitigating climate change and achieving energy efficiency targets. By making energy-efficient building renovations more accessible, the scheme plays a vital role in driving environmental sustainability within the private sector.
